So I finally tracked down the Wizards Staff this weekend (also made Arch-Mage - -Yay!). Turns out I like it better than the Staff of Magnus. So heres the question: What do the points of a levitation effect mean. In other words, what is the difference b/w Levitation for 1 pt versus Levitation for 20 pts. I also found the Boots of the Diciple (or is it Apostle) that have Levitation for 20 to 30 pts for 30 secs, but when I use them I seem to go the same speed.

I've got to be missing something here I and think I just realized what it might be. I forgot about my boots of blinding speed. I can't say for certain that I tried both levitation effects w/o the boots on. Can someone let me know if I'm on the right track here. It's gonna be a long day waiting to get home and try this out. Thanks.

the higher the points of levitation you get, the faster you go. 1 point of levitation will be very slow. 20-30 will be much faster. the potions i made that give over 5000 points of levitation let me go very , very fast. unfourtunately, i had to sleep for 48 hours to get the potion to wear off.

Also, please take note that the faster you are (you Speed attribute), the faster you fly too. So, if you are not able to cast a 10-20 pts of levitation, cast a 1-5 pts of levitation and then cast any fortify spell to increase you speed to about 40-50. The effect is almost the same.

Of course if you prefer, you could drink some of slackerboy's wonder levitation potion. (no known side effect as yet. Do not drink potion on empty stomach. Shake well before use.) :D

Out of curiosity, has anybody managed to enchant an item with a constant levitation effect? Or is the capacity required just too great?

Yes, I've made a constant effect levitation item using an exquisite skirt and a golden saint soul gem. Wasn't able to make it on my own at enchant level 65, so I used the enchanter at the Balmora Mages Guild. It was mighty pricey.. IIRC, over 100,000 gps.

Also made a water breathing glass tower shield and an invisibility amulet (Hlervu) both constant effect. Now, no money, but who cares? ;)

Does anyone know the algorithm used to determine your "speed" while levitating? Is one point equivalent to walking speed? Is it logrithmic (i.e. is 10 pts of levitation twice as fast as one pt.)
I just made a constant effect Anti-Grav ring with 4 pts of levitation and can't tell the difference b/w it and the Wizard Staff. I believe it took 120 points of enchantment.

How many points of levitation did you have on it? I don't think my ring was nearly that expensive, maybe 30 or 40k at the most. Of course I am the Arch-Mage so maybe I get a discount. :D

i made an ebony helm that gave me 1pt of levitation for 10k i belive. i use it with my boots of blinding speed [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Where does one LEARN levitation in the first place? The best i've gotten is a potion...
