I have an excess of money in my hand and am willing to spend it on a new released game. I've thought about getting Morrowind, but don't know how's the gameplay. I'm looking for a game that has good graphics and long lasting appeal. If Morrowind is like another Dungeon Siege, just tell me to forget it. But if it's like a 3D version of BGII, I'm definitely getting the game.

So the question is: Should I get Morrowind? Thanks.

Also check out the review IGN made for Morrowind.

You should buy Morrowind !!! Although I never played Dungeon Siege, the tests, I read about that game, sounded like another Diablo. Morrowind is different. You have even more freedom than in Baldurs Gate. Morrowind has its drawbacks, and it is hard to compare it to Baldurs Gate; its mor like Gothic. But nayway, you will be engaged with this game quite a time ;)

How's the control like? Is it like neverwinter nights where you have to roll inorder to hit the enemy? Or like you can perform all the skills by using you keyboard?

PS: Don't even think about Dungeon Siege!!!Not even a glimpse!!!It's a shame that Microsoft can do so bad in RPGs!!!People say that the game is good, but it's all sarcastisms!!!I got bored of the gameplay and the stupid well-rendered graphics in the first day i try out the game.

The controls are not like NWN. You have to swing your weapon with the mouse and depending on how you swing an how long you hold the mosue button, yo do mor or less damage. Of course, you have a weapon skill, which determines if you hit or not. But, anyway, the combat system is very simple and one of the weaker parts of the game.
The skills are used via keyboard and mouse, depending on the skill. There are no xp-points for the character. The char rises in level only by using certain skills, which depend on your class. This is on zhe one hand very interesting, but on the other hand you are tempted to exploit the game system, by just using a skill again and again for no reason (ok, you can this declare as training in some cases, but just standing in front of a rat and let it bite you to raise your amrmorskill is more an exploit...).

Actually, the swing of your weapon is determined by what direction you are moving, not how you move the mouse (that was how it was in Daggerfall I believe). This is more like Jedi Outcast, but there are only three different attacks: thrust, chop and swing. Each do a different amount of damage, but you can select "Use most damaging attack" from the options menu.

I am not a CRPG fan, so I can't comment on NWN or DS. I've only played a little of Diablo (which isn't really a RPG in my book) and a very little of IWD. Since I don't usually like CRPG's, I spent a long time in the store with MW and Warcraft III in my hands, trying to decide. I haven't seen W3 yet, but I'm glad I got MW. The way it's going, I probably won't see W3 for another 3 or 4 months.

There are some "bad" things about it (crashes, fall through floors; but I don't have the patch), but overall, I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. There is so much to explore and you can do it on your own schedule. This is probably one of the more unrealistic things about the game. If you ignore the main quest for a year of game time, you can come right back to it and nothing has changed. (I'm correct here, right? Those of you who have actually done the main quest correct me if I'm wrong.) So go buy it.

Damn!!!You guys are good at convincing people!!!Go and give each other a pat on the back, cause i'm getting the game. And that means you guys have made another business for Bethesda Softworks.

One little warning here: You will need 1GHz processor and 256 MB memory for Morrowind. The game is completely unplayable at 550 MHz even if you lower resolution to 640x480. You obtain a slideshow instead of a movie. I would like to know how did Betsehda manage to produce so inefficient software :D
If you have a high end machine and if you have liked Daggerfall then do not hesitate and run in your game shop.

Bethesda haven't produced inefficient software. With 550 Mhz you can hardly run ANY of the new games out today. I don't have a 1 Ghz processor, and I can run it. I only have a GeForce 3 and the graphics are great. I have 256 Mb RAM like a lot of people. I have a moderate machine and the game runs great on my comp.

Do you guys consider this a high-end machine?

P4 at 1.4GHz
256 rdram (rambus dram at PC800)
GeForce 2 pro 64ddr-ram

But for me, multiplayer is impossible as i have a 56K modem...

I'd say that it's a moderate machine. For it to be a high-end machine it'd need a GeForce 3 or 4. Don't worry about the 56k modem, Morrowind probably won't have any multiplayer for a while yet. And most mods are less than half a megabyte big, so you should be able to download them without any problems as well.
