I always find that in quests I d/l for morrowind when I ask the people I'm supost to, or read the readme, it always says go north go south blah blah blah. There is no way to get around this..I think..but theres no compass! is ^ north? isn't it? how the hell should I know! i'm only one stupid peon!!

Yes, when looking at your automap, up is north. That said, every NPC's directions are lousy, and you are just as likely (after several hours) to find the site you are looking for by just wandering around.

Another idea is to try to ask a few more people in the town you're in for directions, because sometimes you will get a second set of directions that is more accurate.

on your map, check the X above it so it will stay on your screen. that's way be easier to search stuff.
