Hopefully this will be a slightly less cryptic response. I was having the same problem initially (on the Xbox) until I realised that even though I thought I was 'sneaking' (i.e. the sneak icon was sohwing) in previous instances, I actually wasn't until NPC's were around. Thus, sneaing up to nobody will never increase your sneak skill. Sneaking up to behind somebody will increase it. What I found works best to get it up quickly (oo-er) is either to train it if you're minted, or to find a house with a nice corner and an NPC who isn't too vigilant. Hide around the corner, sneak up to NPC's back until they notice you. Re-hide, re-sneak, rinse, lather, repeat.

I'm still pathetic but this did seem to help somewhat. Soft tippy-toes to you!

im just shy of lvl 3, and i have 10k+ cash, but someone told me that if you train up a skill you dont get the governing attribute multiplier when you level up, so ive been avoiding training up primary and secondary skills

Hm, I thought you could still get a multiplier even so, but as long as you level up a miscellaneous skill from some means other than training? Not sure about this as I'm new to all this malarkey myself. Quite complicated (and possibly unnecessarily so? I'm wondering how many console gamers might be turned off an otherwise cracking game)..

try this if you got lots of magic and are able to. they have a spell that locks the chest. lock it then unlock it. lather rinse and repeat.

ill keep that in mind if i need to power raise my security skill, doesnt help the sneak though =)

theifprowess 06-15-2002 04:11 AM

what attribute does sneak, lock, and unlock raise? i thought they all were security? and also when you do buy your skill it does apply the multiplier if the skill is below the governing attribute.i found a secret master can train you up to 100 in their specialized skill, but will not train you past your skills governing attribute.like reading a skill book when below the attribute still gives the bonus. it will not supply a multiplier say if long blade skill was at 65 and your strength attribute was at lvl 60. but if you gained a skill in blunt weapon and your blunt weapon was at 50 then yes it would add a multiplier regardless of how you obtained it.

and after i typed all this in the ford lightbulb clicked on. using spell lock affects your alteration skill.and i was thinking of security not sneak. i was thinking sneak was a attribute of security but then remembered that sneak was seperate.

ok so hypothetically..... cast calm creature. sneak the creature and pickpocket it. naturally it has nothing on it. but why not put something useless on it. then sneak pick it back.once creature is calm it wont fight back. muahahahahahaha wouldnt that be amazing if you could actually do that. wait wait im gonna go try that.
