Hi all,
i've planned to buy Morrowind now that i finished BG series for the fourht time. But i was wondering if it is playable on my low performance PC : AMD 500, 128 ram, GeForce 2 MX 400 (latest drivers) What do you think ? Thanks in advance |
I play on AMD athlon 500
384 MB 64MB GeForce 2 ultra and a sound blaster pci 128 with winxp It runs pretty well on mine. kinda stutters some times. and i get the occasional CTD (crash to desktop) but i still find it to be very playable. i would recommend a little more memory if you can, its a pretty cheap upgrade. |
You look good, but you didn't address your sound. If you have on-board sound, chances are you'll have some problems.

Thanks for your response,
my sound board is a soundblaster PCI 128, thus it should work properly. i'll try to upgrade my memory then to 256 and enjoy the game ! |
Given the way memory works, you might be better off dropping the current chip strip and plopping in a pair of 256's. That can be done for around 90 dollers (I love crucial.com) and will extend your system life for another six months plus. It will also remove any risks of having two slightly different forms of memory in one box. With a pentium 2 450mhz, gforce 2 card soundblaster etc, I'm doing ok in morrowind, especially after I dumped all unneeded external processes and dealt with the overhead of safedisk.
I keep things around middle range on sight line, short on ai, but do have the first level of shadows. Its very handy when exploring outdoors as they sometimes let me spot bettys, berties (ok bulls but betty and bertie feels right) and cliffbozos I might otherwise have missed until much closer to them.
