im getting quite annoyed with this problem. i just upgraded my computer to a 1.2ghz celeron with a 192sd memory. i have 50gig hd and decent sound. i also used a epox 3VSA V694 motherboard and a nvidia Riva TNT 2 Video card... and still i go back to windows everytime i get the letter after imputing all your stats and everything. and you cant save.. grr.. help!!

it's your drivers.

...go get the latest drivers for vid and sound and uninstall your current ones. make sure they get completely uninstalled.
...you want to go down to using ms vga drivers (that way you know ya completely uninstalled your current vid drivers)... so when you see that ugly 16 color 640x480 screen, you know you did it.
...install the new drivers
...re-install DX 8.1

well, i dont know how well its going to run on a tnt2 card anyways. thats kinda oldschool. the game is rather picky about modern hardware
