I FINALLY made it through the character creation process, after learning a little trick about strategically timed graphic resolution changes, only to find that I crash to desktop EVERY time I attempt to enter an "exterior" environment. I get one freebee every time I reload, so in essence I have to reload every time I want to go outside! I'm running a 1.1 AMD/GeForce2 mx400 64mb/256 system. Nothing too fancy, but well within the game recommendations. Anyone else run into this? Any fixes out there? Morrowind looks great, but right now the highlight of the experience is logging on to some forum to check out Vesselle's latest pic...

I crash to desktop from time to time, but not everytime i load something. I'm not sure if you reinstall the game, it'll fix it, it's more like a compatibility problem i think. But again, i don't have any solution and hence, i answered nothing.

Had the same problem here, but fixed it by updating video driver. Try it out, it works 99% of the time.

heya!
i answered so you don't haveta go looking for my latest pic! LOL! silly guy. anyway, drivers WILL usually take care of the prob, but i discovered a little trick that worked for me. yknow, in case you've tried every driver set out there, and STILL get CTD each and every time. :D before you leave the room for outside, switch to 3rd person. ::smiles goofily:: yeah i know. don't ask me WHY it works, cuz then i'd really haveta reveal my ignorance. but it worked on my just about sub-par Radeon 32mb. OH yeah! go to the UK site for driver releases for sound and vision. for some weird reason, they have more drivers listed there. Go Brits! w00t! V***V   |
I crash to the desktop only if i do 1 thing:
While choosing alchemy ingredients (in the alchemy window), i select the number of ingredient by pressing ENTER instead of clicking accept. grrrr... kicks me back to reality one time out of two. Otherwise, bad cliping gets me stuck in objects and fall through the floor from time to time, but it's nothing a icarus flight scroll can't take care of |
