Morrowind freezes after I give my name in the character creation screens.

I have resolved the sound issues and have made sure graphics has been set up properly, as per a few posts on this forum.

I am running PIII 933 mhz, win Me, 128 ram, Radeon VE 32 meg,

I have turned off all applications in the background, but the game still freezes up during character creation.

Any other advice to try. I would ask at Bestsoft.com, but I have been unable to access the Elderscroll site for the past few days.

i have a simple thing for you to try. works for me on this game AND others...

go into your card properties. i do it this way:

r/click desktop
click properies
choose "settings" tab
choose "advanced" in the lower right
choose "Performance" tab

slider should normally default to full right ("Full")
slide it to the left one click:
..."Most accelerator functions: Use this setting to correct problems with the mouse pointer"

click "apply", "okay", "okay" (LOL as many times as you need to close the windows)

you shouldn't need to reboot or anything. AND you should see a marked improvement right away.

if it still freezes, repeat the process again and slide the button one more notch to the left.

download the file mentioned here, it has pretty much solved ALL my freeze problems.

Thanks for the link. I had already tweaked the card props earlier. Gonna try the link you sent.

Too many games, and all need special adjustments to run well...

That little program worked wonders....

Yeah the safedisc crack is a GODSEND. Better frames, practically no annoying pauses when walking around in the wilderness. It really makes me wonder why it was even included with the game.
