Well, you got some reply from the previous post, though it was 50% useless for you and the rest didn't exactly give you more information either..

Basically, at the currentl levels you better ignore the team up there. They wont go anywhere. Do some quests in Athkala and around it, the first one for example starts right when you exit the first dungeon and enter the tent on the Promenade. There will be more to come, no worries.

I do suggest to level up some and do these additional quests you get, as when you move to chaper 3 and side with Shadow Thieves, you will have to fight some vampires and these are pests indeed, depending on the level. Their main strength is the Drain Levels ability, which can render some char rather weak, outright killing him. Imagine that you have lvl 15 char, fighting them and at some point during the fight you see that he's lvl 5 already? Yep, level drained badly and soon probably dead. There are means against this, but you better level up some, get some XP and spells to protect and skills to battle them.

Copper Coronet in the Slums area will give quite few quests, also you will run into different NPC's offering the quests. If you have not played BG before, get to lvl 10-13 before trying the dwarf and his motley crew again. If you don't succeed at first, no worries, re-load and use different strategy. Basically there are 2 tanks (dwarf and berserker), rogue, 2 casters (mage and his familiar). Tanks do what they always do - charge you. Thief tries to Hide in Shadows and then backstab. Casters try to debuff your team, make them scatter with Chaos or Rigid Thinking and then nuke some. There are different spells to counteract them all, and you will get them with levels.

But first, do some quests indeed and get few levels Here's just a small list of quests you can do right away in the game:

Circus Tent in Waukeen's Promenade;
Slavers Quest in Copper Coronet;
Lilarcor quest in sewers;

These are the quests you can get literally right away, and already give you some XP, levels, equipment, money and a new party member. Do some more in the city, before you head out to De'Arnise Keep, as the trolls there can be pesky if levels are still low and equipment is too weak. And of course, you can always ask the members of these boards

My friend:
Before you try to kill the ■■■■■■■ dwarf you must move to chapter two and get some more experience and better weapons than the ones you can get in chapter one.
Probably a good chance could be finding some jobs at the Copper Coronet.
Good Luck!

I would have to agree with the others. Get some more experience before you go after the Dwarf and his gang. Not only is he tough when you are low level but there is a magic user as well (not very tough but still at lower levels presents an added challenge). As was mentioned in previous posts there are many side quests that you can do at the start to help you level up a bit.

As far as heading off to the keep...Wait until you have gone up a few levels. There are a lot of trolls and nasty spirit trolls that can do some fair damage not to mention, that even when you think they are down unless you use fire or acid they will be back in your face in no time.
