It might be a trifle too soon to ask gameplay questions but:

Does anybody know if characters can cast spells while in medium/heavy armor and/or wielding sword and shield.

Warrior-Mages are my favourite RPG characters.

Huh ? 3E Rules ? Aren't you confusing between Morrowind and NWN ?

~~warhammer~~

i have heard peeps on the official MW boards say that it's possible. it involves learning the right skills however. i guess if you do tons of reading and learn everything that comes your way for combat magick and heavy wielding, you'll probly be fine.

hmmm. may wanna do a bit more research on it.

MorroWind has absolutely NOTHING to do with 3rd edition D&D.

Mage of Mystra 05-03-2002 10:50 AM

I hope it is, i've got a mage with heavy armor and blunt weapon as major skills along with the spell skills. What's the difference anyways between major skills, minor skills and misc. skills?

ericb 05-03-2002 02:24 PM

The difference between the skill level (misc, minor, major) is what level they start at (misc start at 5, minor start at 15, major start at 30) and how fast they go up with us. A major skill increases faster with use than a misc skill used the same amount.

Oh, on the mage issue...there is no penalty or modifier for casting magic while wearing any armor. It only depends on you having the skill to actually wear the armor and cast the spell. Ignore D&D here because it doesn't apply. So yes, you can have a mage casting spells wearing full plate.

It is called a Battle Mage. Armor, weapons, and spells.
