3.5/3ed campaign - using core rules. Characters start at level 2. Basic sheets - skills, (max) HP, AC (if you want) and feats. Semi-freeform - skills and whatnot are a guideline. Don't bother with Bab, fort, ref or will saves (unless you want to) Core races. Stats are at 85 to 90 (you pick), before racial modifiers. Any core class or combination therefore of.

The adventure is fairly classical and takes the party on a trip through the forest, and to the mountains. There are a few villages along the way that the party can interact with. Party will have the chance to gain treasure and whatnot. If anyone's interested, sign up here - if you want some other race that isn't core, then ask first . And no ECLs that are above 3 at most. I'll post more info if people are interested if not, ah well. You'll discover why the RP is named as it is during the course of the adventure.

Edit: If you're playing an ECL then subtract it from your total levels - i.e. if you've an ECL of +1, then you start at level 1 as opposed to level 2. An ECL of +3 starts at level 0.
Edit 2: <u>House Rules</u>
Familiars: Familiars have half the master's HP rounded down.

==========

<u>Characters</u>

Verrion Sieg ~ Aasimar Paladin of Sune (male)
Drusalia ~ Half-Nymph Ranger (female)
Aeriah & Kyr ~ Elven Sorcerous Monk & Pixie familiar (male/female respectively)
Able Typhonious ~ Human necromancer (male)
Faironi ~Elven Favored Soul (female)
Artelm ~Halfing Rogue (male)
==========

Not a bad selection. Anyone else who wants to join - feel free to add a character sheet and join up.

Sure, I'd like to join. Would you allow thieflings and aasimar in this? It's not a core race so that's why I ask. I was thinking of an Aasimar Cleric of Tempus.

dplax 09-29-2004 10:51 AM

Sounds like an interesting game. I'd like to join. I was thinking of a half-nymph char.
Dexcription: http://www.dndworld.com/3e/races/halfnymphs.html
Would that be acceptable? If not I'll have to come up with something else.

I would like to join, but I don't know if you'd allow me to be a planar entity such as a genasi.

Aasimar & Tieflings are ECL +1, but yes, I’ll allow them.

Incidentally, remind me who Tempus is again please? I’ve not too familiar with Faerun’s deities – it’s been a while, or 3ed Deities for that matter.

Half-nymphs? Not too keen on them – they don’t fit in with the party… and they’re a tad too powerful. If you’re set on it, fine – you can play one, but also take an ECL +1.

As to Genasi? No, definitely not. Aasimar and Tieflings fit in – just about, although, I’d rather not have the latter, but, Genasi? I would rather avoid the plane-touched.

Oh, and for the sake of my sanity, no “good” drow – in fact, no drow period. I might allow half drow, but we’ll see. No Drizzt wannabes.

Oh, and for starting wealth, you may have up to 900gp and a single +1 enchanted item (with no other enchantments unless purchased from your starting gold). In addition, you start with 3d6x10gp and keep any remainder gp from your starting wealth.

In addition, alignment doesn't matter too much. Don't bother with alignment restrictions for classes either - just keep alignment to "good, neutral or evil" - don't bother with the law and chaos.

I think that should be everything... oh, stick to core feats please and below is a sample character sheet:

Appearance
Fair-skinned, short black hair. He looks both beautiful and frightening in his silver armor, shield and weapon.

Personality
Optimistic and a good judge of character, Verrion appreciates the simple beauties in life, and harmony, such as of nature. He enjoys being out in the open, but also loves the company of others.

Is this OK?
BTW, Tempus(Tempos) is the slightly chaotic god of warfare, fightins skill and such...

Ok, slight edit: you can have an item that boosts a single skill by 5 (or any combination therefore of), rather then a +1 magic item

-

secondly, a couple of slight edits to the story itself: -

As of three weeks ago, you have no long term memory, only the events of the past three weeks. One day, you wake up as normal and continue life as normal - except for a couple of twists. You don't know what happened any time before your life - and last night the stars seemed especially bright. Oh, and you also do not know the names of your gods. Finally, none of this disturbs you, and none of the nearby creatures know any either - including the humans in the village, or the elves, nymphs and pixies in the forest. However, something does not quite *feel* right to you, and you've decided to find out what.

Incidently, any 3.5 stuff you need can be found here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35 - don't worry, its open source so that makes it "free"

Calaethis Dragonsbane 09-30-2004 12:59 PM

OK - going to pick this apart - don't take it personally ok, coz it's not. Should be taken as "constructive" rather then the reverse.

Right, the Alignment can only be Good, OR Neutral OR Evil - no combinations therefore of. Sorry if I didn't make this too clear.

If you've got an ECL of +1, you start at level 1, so that needs fixing. I know I didn't make that too clear, and apologies

The next part's fine

This will need fixing with both "natural" and a second AC with your armour bonus. Stats are fine too

Skills, please add the actual rank, then the bonus from any modifiers - i.e. say you were an elf at level 1: "listen 8 (3 + 2 racial + 3 wis)" per example

Ok, and this is where the real problem lies. Your inventory is waaaaaaaaaay too overpowered. I said a single +1 item, and then spending the remaining gold. With 900gp, there's no way you could afford all that. An armour enchantment of +1 costs 1000gp, as does a shield and a +1 weapon costs 2000gp. Also, any enchanted weapon/armour/shield needs to be +1 to start with if you're enchanting it, so sorry... but please modify it.

Other then that, overall it looks fine

Edited on 4th november to add 1 acorn.
Edited on 5th november to level up to level 2.
Edited on 6th november to add some minor stuff and correct some minor stuff.

Name: Drusalia
Race: Half-nymph
Gender: female of course
Class: Ranger
Alignment: good

Current XP: 3000
Next level at: 6000
Character level: 2 (and then ECL +1)

Age: 25
Eye colour: blue
Hair colour: blond
Height: 170 cm (no idea about feet and inches, sorry)
Weight: 58 kg
Build: slender
Speed: base speed: 30 feet (about 10 meters)

Hit die: d10
HP: 22
AC: 13 (without armor modifier)

STR: 10 (with -2 racial modifier)
DEX: 16
CON: 12+1 (with -2 racial modifier) (+1 bonus from the tree)
INT: 12
WIS: 14
CHA: 22 (with +4 racial modifier)

Feats: weapon focus: bow

Racial abilities: +4 Charisma, -2 Strength, -2 Constitution: Half-nymph are uncanny beautiful and charming, but lack of strength and vigor.
Medium-size: As Medium-sized creatures, half-nymphs have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Half-nymphs base speed is 30 feet.
Low-light vision: Half-nymphs can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. They retain the ability to distinguish color and details under these conditions.
Nymph Blood: For all special abilities and effects, a half-nymph is considered an nymph. Half-nymphs for example, can use special nymph weapons or magic items with racially specific nymph powers as if they were nymphs.
+4 racial saving throw bonus against Enchantment spells or effects: Half-nymphs are very hard to seduce.
If a male humanoid ever sees a bare naked half-nymph, he must succeed on a will save (DC 8 + half-nymph's level) to avoid permanent blindness.
While battling a male humanoid, a half-nymph's scent and beauty is amazingly capable of distracting the opponent. Thus, she gains a bonus of +2 to both AC and attack rolls. Blinded opponents, or anyone with four or more levels than the half-nymph, are immune to this ability.
A half-nymph can cast any 0th or 1st level Druid spell once per day, though she always casts them as a 1st-level caster.

Animal empathy 5 (CHA +6)

Listen 5 (WIS +2)
Spot 5 (WIS +2)

Inventory: 76 gp, clothes (including a +2 AC leather armor, a magical bow:
The green leaf
Long Bow
Damage: 1d8+1
Attack bonus: +1
Modifier: +1
Item description: A slender long bow with leaves sprouting out of it at the two ends.
Various adventuring stuff
Two plain short daggers for when it comes to close combat.
1 acorn

Background:

Appearance: I'll leave it up to everyones imagination how a char with 22 (modified) charisma looks. :D

Personality: Drusalia defends nature above all things and could never act against it. Recently though she acquired a taste to adventuring, and had participated in a few adventures.

Biography: Born of nymph mother and human father Drusalia lived in her ancestral forests until the age of 21. She then left the forests and ventured into the lands of elves and humans. Many were those who admired her beauty, but none got accepted as her partner. The nymph blood flowing in her veins made Drusalia protective of nature and beauty and she had not met anyone so far who appreciated these values.

Feel free to pick this apart also for mistakes.

Bozos of Bones 09-30-2004 02:25 PM

Heh, OK, I'll go edit him up then. I thought I could be lv 2, as you've said that no ECL greater than 3. I know you removed the need for philosophical alignments(Lawful, Neutral, Chaotic), but I put it in anyway. So my base character alignment fits into Good. I got my pricing according to the Player's Handbook, wherein the +1 sword is base item price +300gp. The blessed armor I will change from the 200gp I calculated for the Hide +1, to a normal Chain Shirt(light armor) with the same statistics(-2 penalty) for 100gp. The skills are summed up with racial and stat bonuses, but if you want I can post in the actual calculations. Oh, and the shield isn't actually enchanted per se, it's just the talisman(like a holy symbol of Pelor and the like) and is used only to turn undead and to pray to. It has no magical proterties whatsoever. So, about the sword, you think it's too overpowered? You said a +1 item, and I thought I could just whip in the Paladin's Holy Weapon(not a Holy Avenger at level 15, paladins have right to three sacred items at levels 2, 10 and 15). So, since I'm no longer a level 2 Paladin of Sune, I'm gonna demote it to a standard +1 blade, ok? What else what else..? I'll modify the BABs and saves later with all the other changes, but I soon have to go, so I'll get to it when I get back.
