i'm looking for characters levels 7-10, higher or lower possibly for special exceptions. we will be hunting thri-kreen, so obviously no thri-kreen characters will be in this party. elves are a good pick for a race, human ok, mul (half human, half dwarf) is good as well. dwarves and halflings not so good, they will not be able to keep up with the party, without a mount anyway. half giants will suck up too many resources. other races may be presented for consideration. a good story will help!

my character will be my lion elf (most recently seen in bugmann's bar, and the wilderness) and she has a way to travel planes so if your character has a reason to be in basic d&d world like bugmann's bar she can get him/her to athas. there are no horses on athas, there are ostrich like creatures call crodlu, and spider like kanks.

this will be 2ed ad&d, bg 1 &2 or iwd characters allowed, however i do want a character sheet, as elaborate or simple as you like, but i need stats, level, weapons, hit points and class.

mages: you are defiler or preserver- defilers destroy the world, their spells leave patches of dust and ash; preservers draw only enough power to use their spells without destroying the land, and prefer to not use them in places with litle plant life or is already recovering fromt the presence of a defiler.

clerics: worship the one of the four elements, weaponry is dictated by the element chosen.

there are no paladins natural to athas, they have been replaced by gladiators/warriors to fight for the bloodlust of the audience and live or die by the favor of the crowds

psionicists are powerful and common to athas, most pc's have one or two wild talents (psionic powers they are naturally gifted with.) anyone playing a character from athas i will roll their wild talents and let them know.

this is a desert world-comeing here in full plate will be suicide!

Once, in a time far removed from current memory, there was a blue age. When Athas was covered by vast oceans, and neither magic nor psionics existed. Halflings were the undisputed masters of the work and the only intelligent beings. They lived beneath an azure sun in cities that floated atop the waves. The halflings had the knowledge and skills necessary to manipulate nature itself, growing everything they required in submerged farms and on small portions of dry land that jutted from the endless sea. Ironically, their own skills betrayed them. The halflings attempted to double the seas output, but instead created a brown tide that started to destroy it.

To find a way to save the planet, some of the nature masters gathered in the pristine tower. The discovered a solution, but it required a vast amount of energy. The only source for such raw power was the sun, but the sapphire brilliance wouldn't give up its energy easily. So the nature masters worked fervidly to change the sun so that it's energy could be focused through the tower. With the altered suns energy, the killed the brown tide that was poisoning the sea. In changing the sun to a brilliant yellow sphere, however, they changed its effects upon the world. The seas began to evaporate, revealing large expanses of dry land. The world became a different place, but the sea survived.

The period that followed became known as the rebirth. It was a time of spontaneous creation, when the emerging land continuously changed, the sea shrank back, and new animals came into being. Some of these creature flourished, others died out. During this period, most of the halflings had abandoned civilization and were reverting to more primitive times. The still-civilized halflings of the pristine tower were few, but they commanded great power and knowledge. To populate this new paradise, they transformed themselves into the new races-humans, demihumans, and humanoids. The last of the nature masters were gone, and a new age in the annals of Athas had begun.

The rebirth gave way to the green age, a time marked by vast tracts of forest, and green thriving land. Great cities of the new races sprang up during this period and roads were constructed that linked the together. The first elemental clerics appeared, but the true power of the age was psionics. It had developed during the rebirth, and was refined as the green age unfolded.

hey revruby, shall i give you my character. k here it goes.
ive got a background written, and he is plane touched so you dont have to get me there i can get there , myself.

Elrion

Race:1/2 light Elf 1/2 tiefling
Class:Kensai warrior
Level:8
str:20
Con:18
Wis:10
Int:11
Dex:15
Cha:6
HP:90
AC:2

To hit=+3
Damage=+4

elrion is a renound warrior who wields a moon katana dedicated to him for his skill in battle which is a +2 weapon. this allows haste (like the boots of speed) and glows a harmonious blue, and allows invisibility to be cast once per day. he has delicate features, long silver hair, and wears just a black silk cape over his clothes. this has no features, but is sentimentle to him as it was a gift from his father. the only other adorned item is his ring which he can pack a punch with, and gives him limited resilience to magic. roughly about 5%. because of his lack of armour he is quick and deadly. being a kensai he has the following advantages

Advantages:
- Bonus +1 to hit and +1 damage for every 3 levels
- Bonus -2 to AC
- Bonus -1 to speed factor for every 4 levels
- May use 'kai' ability one time per day for every 4 levels (starts at 1st level with one use): this ability lasts 10 seconds and makes all attacks do maximum damage.

Disadvantages:
- May not use missile weapons
- May not wear armor
- May not wear gauntlets or bracers

I'll be running two characters (I have already recieved permission)

The first is Nuko: lvl 12 Defiler
Alignment: Neutral Evil
height; 7'9" weight; 160lbs
tribe: Sky Singers Kit: arcanist (a mage that focuses on understanding everything, natural and magical, they recieve hefty bonuses when trying to identify things, similar to a bard, but cannot use any weapon with proficiency)
stats:
str: 12
dex: 22
con: 12
int: 21
wis: 15
chr: 14
weapons: staff of power with 32 charges, dagger +1

other equipment: ring of regeneration (1 hp/10 rnds)ring of feather falling, Bag of Holding, 200' of giant hair rope, 2 grappling hooks, bedroll, 3 weeks dry rations, 20 waterskins, misc adventuring/desert survival equipment. 3 belt pouches full of gems(one of the pouches is full of cursed gems, they are guarded by dozens of Obsidian Golems that are trying to track him down and take back the gems, but due to the gems being stuffed into a bag of holding they cannot get a fix on the gems' location until they are removed, usually either for spell components, or as trade goods, by the time the golem would have gotten there Nuko would have made a clean get-away)

commonly used spells: magic misile, blur, acid arrow, wraithform, touch the black, flame arrow, otilukes resilient sphere, stoneskin, wall of force (sphere shape around self) other spells as needed include limited wish scroll, teleport without error scroll, protection from undead scroll, magic jar, etc.

Nuko is an arcanist through and through, he fully understands the effect his magic has upon the land, but revels in the power that magic provides him, he has no problem blasting someone for being impudent, and anything that impinges upon his rather high opinion of himself is seen as a direct challenge, unless of course you are obviously more powerful than him, then he will lure you into attacking one of his companions and destroy you while you are occupied elsewhere. of course he is a genius and will use his coldly calculating logic to measure risk, for instance under no circumstance would he be party to attacking a sorceror king, or attacking Borys the Dragon, instead if possible he owuld barter away the lives of even his closest friends in exchange for power and safety.

Nuko is also proud of his outstanding combat record, when fighting with weapons he has hit 66% of the time (he has only brandished weapons against foes three times in his career, he hit twice and missed the once, and then stopped meleeing completely after he missed, this was around lvl 3-4 that he attacked, well over a year ago campaign time, about two to three years game time)

A mysterious race appeared during the rebirth. It’s members combined characteristics of all the new races in beautiful forms and demonstrated powers beyond those of mere humans, elves, and dwarves. Called the pyreen, these beings were nearly immortal, with abilities that could have made them the new masters of the world. Instead, they chose to hide from the other races and follow their own paths. One of these paths led to magic.

Among the pyreen was a being called Rajaat. Unlike his fellows, he was hideously deformed both physically and spiritually. Though his was contorted, and his conscience twisted, Rajaat possessed a wondrous facility with psionics and was blessed with amazing intellect. During the earliest days of the green age he left the other pyreen to explore and seek answers to his questions about how the world changed, what happened to the nature masters and why he was so different. During his search he came to revile himself as a deformed accident he pledged to rectify.

By studying the techniques of the ancient nature masters he learned that the spark of energy in all living things was a great source of power. He wished to use this power to transform his mind and body and thought that he was close to a solution, despite that he never achieved the desired effects. However he did unlock the secrets of magic and became the first sorcerer.

Life energy was the source of magic and the plants and land itself were the easiest sources to tap. He found a special location that fairly glowed with life energy. He remained there for nearly 200 years, learning what he could. But he was not satisfied, he wanted more power. To get this power, he turned to the world itself.

Tapping into the life spark of Athas Rajaat learned he couldn't control the world's life force. This left his hiding place devastated and full of foul creatures that still exist.

He returned to his research of nature masters and learned through the legends and tales of the now feral halflings where the pristine tower is. Here he found a band of descendant from the last nature masters. He befriended the band, learned from them, then took control of the tower and altered it to fit his needs.

MORE LATER I HAVE TO COOK DINNER!
