I'm experimenting with a new form of RPG here. Basically, I'll be creating all sorts of new characters and roleplaying each of them <font color="silver">without having determined the big plot or sub-plots</font>. Every action here is based simply on the history, mannerisms and traits of the characters; they are not aware of one another's thoughts and will be interacting as if they are strangers to begin with (unless stated otherwise).

The reason I'm doing this is because I've a hyper-active imagination and I'd like to move the dynamics of the plot as much as possible, without being hindered by time-zones too much.

<font color="white">To the mods - Please let me know if you feel that this violates or goes against the spirit behind this forum's rules. If so, you have my word that I will cease this immediately :D </font>

As for all others interested in joining this story, <font color="gold"> YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME</font>. Just create a character, and see how you can fit her or him into the story<font color="gold"> COHERENTLY</font>.

Now, for the simple rules:

<font color="yellow">No power-players are allowed. All characters are capped at Level 13, for simplicity. And please, no liches, dragons, beholders or whatnot's. I don't find them interesting </font>

<font color="lightblue">Read before you post. Your character's actions must follow from all that has happened since you last read/posted. I will ignore your character's actions if they do not make sense.</font>

<font color="lightgreen">No controlling of other characters' actions without the consent of the person who created them. Killing off, imprisoning or even mazing other characters is a definite no-no.</font>

<font color="pink">No spamming allowed. Enough said </font>

Okay, with all that out of the way, I'm going ahead with my experiment ;)

<font color="silver">Sorsha

As she lifts her head towards the sky, the twinkling stars seem to beckon to her. ~ One day, my love... one day... ~ Blinking her eyes, she shakes her head, biting her lips determinedly. ~ How can I go on without him?

Feeling a tug at her skirts, she looks down to see the puppy chewing at her skirt, its bright eyes gleaming innocently at her and its tail wagging furiously...against her will, a tear trickles down her right cheek and she hurriedly wipes it away. ~ I must be strong... for his sake.

Bending down, she pats the puppy gently, whispering ~ "Time to go, Puka." ~ In answer, the pup opens its mouth, panting excitedly, its tongue rolling out and tail wagging once more.

The two figures continue on their way, into the darkness of the night...</font>

<font color="yellow">Damien

His acute sense of hearing picks up a series of footsteps heading his way. Immediately, his right hand grips the hilt of his longsword and he crouches behind the bushes, peering out from the spaces between the leaves. ~ A skirt... four paws... ~ He relaxes a little ~ Just a harmless young lady, probably taking a stroll with her pet ~

Nevertheless, he continues to strain his ears, listening to the girl's melancholic voice.

<font color="silver">"Well, Puka, it's just you and me now, isn't it? What shall we do? No one wants us... certainly not Philip's family."</font> ~ Here, there is a heartwrenching sob ~ <font color="silver">"Death would be far more welcome than this..."</font> ~ The voice trails off, and the footsteps halt momentarily.

I wonder... ~ Indecision creeps into his mind ~ Tis none of my business, yet to watch a lone maiden wandering in the woods is no chivalrous act. ~ As he pauses to consider his next action, he fails to hear the footsteps creeping towards him from the back...</font>

<font color="lightgreen">Gavrouche

Camouflaged by the trees, he watches the figure ahead, crouched against the bushes, apparently spying on something beyond. ~ Here's my chance... ~ A characteristic smirk forms on his cracked lips and he licks them to allay their dryness.

Treading silently, he draws out a dagger with his right hand and makes his way toward the figure. Whipping out his gloved left hand, he covers the mouth of his prey and presses the blade of the dagger against his throat.

"Let's make a deal here, bud. You hand over your goods, and I'll return you your life." ~ To emphasise his point, he applies pressure on the blade, and grins as he senses the tension surge through his victim. </font>

<font color="AACCFF">Legolas

As he walked over the snaking path toward the village up ahead, the elf noticed the people in the village were still awake. Men and women walked the streets ahead, some of them holding candles, others mugs of ale. Strings full of leaves hung between the houses, probably fresh and green.

He heard a soft voice to his right, though there never once came a reply. Soon after, his keen ears picked up the sound of footsteps. A girl, a woman, was walking through the forest, talking to herself.

Having decided she was not a thread and would not be likely to spot him anyway, he walked the last few hundred yards into the village. He would get some rest before moving on again.

OOC: Not sure about this, but you want us to make up a history and keep it secret, then let the character enter the world, the character being unaware of what is happening around him/her and relying only on information which could realistically be gained through seeing/hearing first hand?

mistral4543 11-25-2001 06:34 PM

(ooc: Yes, Legolas, that's right. Your post was just fine :D )

<font color="silver">Sorsha

As she makes her way with Puka into the stillness of the night, her tired eyes finally detect spots of light glowing in the distance ~ A village perhaps... ~ For the first time in days, a tiny smile creeps onto her lips.

"See there, Puka? That's our goal." ~ In answer, the pup tilts its head towards her, his tongue drooping out and his tail swinging vigorously from left to right.

Crouching down, she swoops him into her arms and they continue towards the first signs of civilisation in the areas they have covered.</font>

<font color="White">Raymond

Raymond sat outside his home that evening...in a quiet little village where nothing ever happened. Sure, an occasional bear or someting would wander out of the woods, but the village was quick to take care of it. They may have even looked foward to it. Nothing ever happened. All day long, it was the same old thing. Go till the garden, feed the livestock, whittle a few sticks, and back to bed for the night.
Raymond loved the cool night air. It was both refreshing and peaceful. Being this far away from any major city held it's advantages. No robbers, no murders, no stink of the city life. This was paradise. Yet, Raymond felt like it was also a prison. Someday...he would have a great adventure. He would save a life or slay a dragon!...
Well...those were mere dreams and held little truth. Raymond knew he wa destined to do one thing. Die of boredom. </font>

<font color="yellow">Damien

His voice muffled by the cursed glove covering his mouth, he nevertheless swears violently at his lapse of concentration. Briefly, he contemplates retaliation... ~ Yet a wrong move, and my neck would be slashed and I would die a pathetic death ~ His fists clench tightly ~ And after all, it's just money... ~

Reaching into his pocket with his left hand, he draws out his money pouch and drops it onto the ground. In the next few seconds, he senses the intruder reaching out with his left hand to pick his loot and keeping it.

The blade on his throat disappears and he spins around to see a shadow dashing off into the woods.</font>

mistral4543 11-25-2001 07:03 PM

<font color="lightgreen">Gavrouche

Chuckling to himself as he dives into a particularly bushy undergrowth, he shakes his head in amazement ~ "I did it!... I actually did it!... What will they say to this?" ~ Hurriedly, he stifles the cry of triumph threatening to emit from his cracked lips.

My first attempt at robbery... ~ And then, the elation dies down, replaced by a whiff of suspicion. Hastily, he draws out the pouch and pours out its contents ~ Two hundred gold pieces... ~ This time, his teeth flash in the darkness ~ A decent enough loot.

Satisfied, he begins sprinting towards home...</font>

<font color="silver">Sorsha

As she steps into the village, Puka cuddling in her arms, the light in her azure blue eyes begins to waver ~ I hope the people aren't too hostile to strangers... ~ Nervously, she makes her way to the nearest inn and enters it, her heart thumping wildly.

"Erm... excuse me..."

At the sound of her faltering voice, silence shrouds the room. A dozen pairs of eyes scan her trim figure and strange companion. Realising that she may faint in any moment, she staggers towards the innkeeper and whispers ~ "I... I seek employment... d...do you need workers?"

The innkeeper takes a look at her delicate frame and frowns ~ <font color="skyblue">"Well... I do need a helper to make the beds, serve our guests and such. But I'm not sure if you're up to the job, my dear... you look ready to fall to pieces if someone much as breathed on you."</font>

"Oh, please... please... take me. I can work long hours... anything... I'll do anything..." ~ A film begins to form over her eyes ~

<font color="skyblue">"Oh, alright then...I've always had a soft spot for sweet young things."</font> ~ The kindly old man winks at her ~ <font color="skyblue">"I think we'll get along fine... my name's Winthorp, by the way. Oh, and one thing I can't possibly tolerate is your tears. We don't want to frighten our customers away with them, do we?"</font> Chuckling, he casts her another friendly grin.

On an impulse, she sets Puka on the counter, runs behind it and gives Winthorp a big hug. ~ "Thank you!"</font>
