I'm just asking a strange question here.
It's been a couple of mounths now since I last played BG2. I just restarted to play yesterday.
Now, this is not the first time this happens to me. I tried playing several other RPGs (like Diablo2 or Dark age of Camelot) but none satisfied me like BG. Where is the story in those other games.
Am I the only one who keeps coming back to BG because of lack of very good RPGs?
Tell me

I've played Diablo II and to me it seemed to be your run of the mill hack and slash game, with little storyline. I haven't played Dark Age of Camelot but I've seen it before, and I was falling asleep watching the guy run endessly on the screen. Both are good games of course, but don't have the story like BG does.

Simply put, Bioware kick ass, LucasartskKick ass, no one else should ever make an RPG again. Except Betheseda.

Blizzard should definatly not bother with a Diablo III unless their prepared to make it more adventure and less combat.

The Daggerfall series from Bethesda was really a great rpg series. I became an insomniac when I started playing.

It's sad...I restarted and am playing through the whole series for the same reason. I am almost done...then what? I guess I could try soloing. I've never done that.

There is hope, though...IWD2 is due in May, and Dungeon Siege may be released before that. Heroes of Might and Magic IV and Might and Magic IX are other promising games that I am looking forward to.

I also returned several times to BG. The only other older game, I play through from time to time is Jagged Alliance 2. But anyway, from all RPGs in the last few years IMHO the BG-series has the best "replay-value", since everytime I discover something new or I just play with other chars to try new tactics.
BTW, another good rpg is Gothic, but I don't know if it is available in the U.S.since it is a game from a German company. It is however available in the UK, so there is a english version around.

GOTHIC is in the states , and it ROCKS !! it starts out slow , but it has a great story line , awsome items, and EXTREMELY good graphics. The only pain is that when you use the console cheats , all the items and things are in german.

Aber das ist doch kein problem? (that is no problem,is it?)

About coming back to Baldurs Gate:i haven't played that many RPG's yet,but i've played this one a couple of times because it has a great storyline. It's fun to see a character develop from BG1,all the way to Throne of Bhaal.Plus i like the graphics very much.I'm not saying other games don't have these things, but i usually stick with my favourites.

It's cool too see that I'm not the only one who thinks BG is the greatest.

The BG series is pretty unique. I had high hope sfor Ultima 9 - but thats life.................
