i have tried both sanctus kerah and blessed be kerah..with all characters wearing and not wearing the amulet and the statue still does not move...i have spent nearly 2 hrs trying

Okay, there are multiple problems with what you're doing. Number one, and most importantly: the statue does not move, period. Try out the following:

1) Get very close the statue and speak to it.
2) If you're talking to the Crypt statue, just recite the inscription on the amulet you found atop the gemstone locked elevator next to the rat-eating Stout. When you say the right words, the door across from the statue will open for you.
3) If you're talking to a random statue in the countryside, make sure you say, "Blessed be [goddess's name]"
4) Don't expect fireworks - mostly the statues just say a phrase or two in response to you talking to them, and more often than not it's horseshit. Sometimes they'll refill your hitpoints too.
