I have read a lot about Korden and Edwin but where can they be found?

Anomen and Nadia can be found in the Copper Coronet
Yoshi can be found after escaping the Dungeon in chapter 1
Valgyr can be found in the logcabin at the top left of the Uger Hills.
Korgen(?) dwarf bezerker (I ditched him) at the Copper Coronet.

Korgan or Keldorn?

I think he means Keldorn.

Keldorn can be found in the sewers.

Edwin. Don't worry. You'll find him later (in the Docks).

I have completed the shadow thief quest and am ready to go to the asylum but want to have other npc's in the party. I would like to check out edwin but cannot get through the doors at the mae'vars inn.

Cernd: Near the Druid Grove, near Trademeet

I have visited the trademeet and met with the shadow thief at the north-east-side of town. She told me to go to the druid grove. Need I talk to townsmen before my worldmap is upgraded or what. I want to go but cannot select the place on the map.

Mazzy: In the Temple Ruins, near Umar Hills

Is she the helfling in the prison there? I liberated her and she fled to Trademeet. Cannot figure out where. I will go look for her.

Valygar: In his cabin in the Umar Hills
He is my other ranger. I love combat wth two weapons....

when you have finished the Mae Var quest Edwin can be found in the Copper Coronet.
Cernd: yes, talk to the High Merchant first.
Mazzy: Her house is marked on the Trademeet map.

So I have to finish the quest.
How do i start them. I can only talk to the innkeeper and he will only sell me things. The doors can only be opened with a special key..... how to proceed if i want to get into the mae=;908 something hold./?????

Renal Bloodscalp (leader of the Shadow thieves) will give you the quest about Mae Var. Renal can be found on the first floor in their headquarters. You obtain a paper which will open new options in the dialogue with the innkeeper who will grant you access to MaeVar.
