Hiya

I am a female currently playing the game as a male (Elven Archer called Zidane).

Originally started playing a female, but read on the boards about the male romances so I thought that it would be more interesting to play a male.

Having swapped over however and gotten far too far in the game to restart (guilty of that about 4 times) I find the romancing bit uncomfortable because the girls are coming on to me. Now I know I am a male in the game, but I can't help it.

Any girlies out there had the same problem?

BTW once I finish the game as a male, I am gonna go round again definitely as a female.

Thanks

I can't comment as I'm male myself ;) but I can say that there is a mod coming out quite soon by David Gaider (Senior Designer at Bioware) which will allow you to have Valygar as a romance option. It's not official, but it should be as good as a mod can get. ;)

That IS good news, power to the girls I say

Anomen is a pompous ass no girl in their right mind would romance HIM

I tried going through as a female character for a change. I got to the copper coronet, had Anomen talk to me once and was so disgusted I've never tried doing the female thing again

Hi Z. Another option that u have is to find (or use shadowkeeper) the belt of 'gender change' correct name?? That way u could keep your same character. Shadowkeeper is a game editor-downloadable from this and other sites. Dangerous tho'- u can become as powerful as u want, and then there's that power corrupting problem...

BTW, Lady Galadrial seems to be the boards resident romance expert. I'm surprised she didn't post. You can check out her previous posts, or go to The Sorcerers Place site and use the search engine on this or any other BG topic.

I don't know why people even bother romancing. It is so much fun to say 'shut up and get back in line' that I don't know how anybody could pass it up. All NPCs do is whinge anyway

I romance because I want to roleplay. BG2 is a role-playing game, and I feel that if I do Roleplay, I should go for every single role-playing aspect I can. Of course, I can only speak for myself.

Oh also, before I forget, with certain romances you can get extra experience.

Like Viconia, if you romance her, she eventually

attacked by a Handmaiden of Lloth. With killing her, you get EXP, a handmaiden's mace, and Dark Elven Chain. The Handmaiden's Mace does +3 damage.

I can understand what you are saying. I try to look at it from the Female point of View (Jaheiria's or Aerie's). The other option is to drop Jaheira, Aerie or Viconia from your group and pick up someone you can't have a romance with if that would make you feel more comfortable. I agree with you that the Female/Anoman romance is a huge bust. I seem to remember a really nice Paladin in BG1 that would be interesting (obviously not that well since I can't remember his name). It would be nice if we had more then the one option for Romance, but we don’t sadly. Good luck and don’t feel bad about quitting and starting new games. I do it all the time (if only to see what benifits other races have).

What are all of the romance mods that are in the works? I knew about Valygar, but I have also heard rumors about Imoen, Nalia, and Haer'dalis.
