the romances are regulated by :

1) real time. as in, time on the lcock on the wall, not time in game. so a hyper-efficeint player who gets the game done in 100 hours but is at day 1000 from all the resting will not get very far, whereas someone who take 300 hours will complete the romance.

2) triggers. in jaherias romance, you have to take the xzar/montaron quest to get it going. maybe theres something similar with aeries romance? im thinking probably something to do with the circus and uncle quayle. which means hell is to late.
