I am just about to start a new game, having just bought a computer that can finaly run it propperly, and never having finished it. The last time i tried I only got as far as meeting Bhodi. I'm wondering what to do my charecter as. Could you (or any one who cares ...lol)just put down the pros and cons of each class. I know there are lots of these ideas going round, as i have heard that you cant get a good fighter or cleric etc. But i cant remember them. Brain like a seive. Thanks.

Alright. I'l just do a vague look at it.

Fighers-I don't really like them myself but I played as a half-orc fighter and he did alot of damage with a 2-handed sword. Some have resistances when special abilities are used and they are well suited for melee.

Mages-Weak at the start of the game but the most important class in the game. They do need protection which can be a problem. But on the plus side casting death spell can solve alot of problems I've found. I you want to play as a specialist mage I like to play as a necromancer. You'll loose ability to use the spells of the opposing school of magic but you'll just need to get Jan who is an excellent thief and a usefull mage and that will no longer be a problem.

Clerics-If you are going to be a cleric I suggest being a cleric of lathanda. The boon of lathanda spell will protect you from lvl drain and turn undead ability is very important in this game. Even is you have Vicona or Amonem an extra cleric can't hurt. I completed all the chapters up to the end of the Shadow thieves helping you get Imoen back with a cleric of lathanda. Don't play as a half-orc like I did cause you can duel them to a fighter later on if you want to. You can also equip them with the Crom Frayea and he'll be a killing machine.

Thats the only kits I've ever really tried properly. I'm sure someon else can fill in the rest.

If you want a nice powerful character that has high hit points and a good thaco and you want to be a fighter be a Half-orc barbarian. the only 2 big disadvantages are can't get better than specialized in any weapons and can only wear chain mail and lower.

You can also try a paladin, cavalier or inquisitor. They have good saving throws, guaranteed charisma and can use the Carsomyr.

Try creating a multiplayer game and then you can see what six
different characters/kits look like. Play for a while and
when you figure out who you want, then restart with him/her.

That all depends on what class you
would like to play. In my humble
opinion, I believe that a spell
caster of some sort is the most
fun/rewarding. There are some good
dual class combinations that I have
heard:

Kensai/Mage
Fighter/Cleric
Swashbuckler/Mage

or Multiclass, but I really don't like
multiclasses.

Sorcerers are supposed to be awesome,
(So I'm told)

Legolas the Elven Archer 10-25-2001 10:34 AM

I remember we had an 'essay' once on which character was the best. Try a bezerker dualed to a cleric.

Personally, I prefer the Archer http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

I thing Cavelier is the best char (for a newbie anyway) since he has high charisma(so low prices) and does alot of damage to some of the strongest creatures in the game(Demons & Dragons).
