I was doing the Cult of the Unseeing eye quest and was at that sort of bridge which poses you a riddle in order to cross. Alright, I answered it and fought the Beholder and the Gauths. The problem is that before the fight, Anomen was holding the Mace of Disruption +1 and after the fight, when I checked the inventory, it was gone! He wasn't petrified (though Minsc was ) and there is no way I could have removed it by mistake and thrown it. I searched the whole area but couldn't find it. What happened?

I am not sure, but I think that the gauths has a special trick so they can steal other persons things.
