How do you get past the Emotiion Sucker or whatever it is. Does it really matter?

I think you might be referring to the guy that you need to kill with the rift device. you get one part from the avatar in the diseased peoples temple and you find the other piece in the dungeon. When you get the other piece he will appear and you need to use it on him

I think you are refering to the Avatar
with all the deseased people outside.
Did you try casting a healing type spell
on it?

Get near Avatar your best fighter and behind Avatar a Cleric. Let him attack your fighter and cast with your Cleric a healing spell on Avatar and he will die.
