I hate changing armor in batter, so I'm wondering how do people handle armoring a spell casting bard? Should I assume just an armor spell? AC6 isn't bad, and it lasts a day. What do you all say?

My Blade Bard wears the Melodic Chain and is still able to cast spells. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

yeah, rub it in...

don't answer this, I'm just commenting (as I haven't gotten that far yet), but I thought you'd have to wait until underdark to get melodic chain?

Melodic Chain rules! Right now my Bard is my primary spell caster so I need him to cast spells. If I didn't have melodic chain I would go get it. IMMEDIATELY.

If a bard is your primary spell caster, maybe you have problems other than what he's gonna wear http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Bard as primary spell caster? Maybe for BG1, but definitely not for BG2...I was thinking of playing one as a support mage/archer, but now I changed my mind, I think I'll stick with my human dualed cleric(12)->mage...now -that's- what I call a spell caster.

I like bards, but they are better in the role of support spellcaster - the max spell level in BGII (incl. TOB) is level 6, so you miss out on some important high-level spells.

Armouring bards is not too difficult - head to the Adventurer's Mart, and pick yourself out a nice pair of bracers - there are 2 available, AC3 and AC4. You can then sell them when you get the melodic chain later in the game.
