My solo assasin has been asked to dispatch of a certain cowled wizard,
Rayic Gethras. Its the cowl, edwin wants you to remove ....
But i'm having a little bit of trouble with Ra.Ge.

He has stoneskin on, even before he notices me, meaning that my poisened sword / arrows arent getting through to him, before he is hinted to my presence.

After that, his spell-trigger makes him a very hard opponent. Also, he has a very annoying custom to cast shadow-door, an invisibility i cannot dispel, since i am no wizard.

How did you get rid of him, .... by simply playing the waiting game in a darker corner of the room ??

When you first go up there he asks you to leave. Say "yeah, sure..." and then set traps in the bottom right corner of the screen. He gets pissed in a couple seconds and starts attacking you.

The traps should at least damage him. Now here is the trick( see also: cheese) ..he won't follow you down stairs. Go up he casts a billion spells and when you see the green glow of some offensive spell coming for you, duck down the stairs. Now practice picking locks there, or HiS or if you brought a good book along now is the time to read it.

Go back upstairs, and repeat.

When you do this several times, he gets down to only the purple cylinder protection which you can get through. Now go and whack him.

Tryed that allready, but his powerword stun is faster then i can walk... and my hitpoints are 86 at max .
(need only 4 more HP to ignore those powerwords)

Anywayz, cheesy or not, its the only way for my character to defeat him. So I'll just hide under the table untill his protections
run out ;)

If you have an invis potion handy you can avoid a fair few of his earlier spells. or you can simply run up the starirs .anyway, the bugger has two sets of stoneskins to batter your way through.

i used a solo monk and had to resort to hiding in shadows, running up stairs and pure dumb luck to bring down that invisible stalker right after the stun, but i eventualy managed to kill him out in the street.

spend 2000 gold and get a pretection from magic scroll, then laugh at him while the moron casts spell after spell at you, only to become a dumb, dead, worthless cowled wizard!!

Potion of Explosions, Oil of Firey Burning, Arrow of Detonation, Arrow of Dispelling, Flame Arrow, Acid Arrow, Ice Arrow --- there are some sure-fire ways to get through his defenses fast!

Summoning some help is nice, too: a certain spider with 5 attacks per round will go through his stoneskins pretty quickly, and berserk warriors are immune to fear and some other things.
