I played Icewind dale and loved it, but the combat was a little excessive and difficult. How is this compared to BG/BG2? I would like to give them a try but don't wanna keep restarting my game so I can make good characters to survive the onslaught of enemies.

IMO I think Soa has a little more story line not as much hack and slash dungeon crawl feel. They are both great games. I think you will have a great time playing Soa. They have the same kind of game play. Dont get me wrong there is some great fights in Soa. I liked Soa a little bit better. Lots of great side quest to do in soa. All depends what kind of style you llike to play.

I think that if U just want to fight, it´s better get Diablo or Darkstone.
SoA or ToB had kicking ass fights but i´ll need to interact with a lot of NPC´s to see them.

Yeh, if you want a no brainer game (no offence) take d2 for a spin!
