I had a sorceror who knew the spell 'Protection from magical energy'. I had assumed that this spell would be the equivalent of those protection from magic scrolls but it doesn't seem to work quite like them.
Anyone this spell is working upon still seems to take damage from some magical attacks. For example the effects of fireshields seems to get through (although i think this is maybe becuase thats fire damage not magical) and also some beholder kin effects seem to get through. This was not a major problem but it did bother me that i didn't know exactly what the spell was doing.
Incidentaly the combined power of the above spell and a dual wielded flail of ages/crom fayer really kicks crap outa just about anything.

Thanks yet again guys for any help.

that spell is not equal to protection from magic. It only protects from direct damage spells and area effect damage spells. Even then, I think it only reduces the damage by 75%.

Any some spells do PURE fire damage like fire storm. So not even 100% MR helps.
