Where on earth (Middle, Forgotten or otherwise) is the damn silver sword hilt?

I finished the game yesterday (first time, whoah! i need TOB now!) and managed without it. Lilarcor served me extremely well (him and minsc together? much hilarity) espeicially against the mind flayers.

I thought it was maybe with the githyankies (or whatever) when they attacked the boat but whenever i get to the stage of killing one to pickup treasure (i never ever put points into pickpocketing) i always get punted of to the sahaugan city. I also thought it could be with the bunch that attacks after the underdark mind flayer bit but they didn't have it one there bodies either. Mind you by that stage i had mysteriously lost the blade. Would they have had it if i still had the blade? Have i missed something? What does the bloody sword do anyway and is it better than Lilarcor?

Cheers guys.

Saemon should give you the blade after you defeat pirate lord, i think. Then when you go to Wuakeen Promenade, som emore gith attack you, they carry the hilt. Then Cormwell will forge it. The sword is a +3 two-hander, but there is a 25% chance that the enemy struc must save versus death (with some modifier) or be instantly killed.

once you leave the underdark, a gith party will appear and attack you. this can happen practically anywhere. i've had it occur in three different disticts in athkatla and in the forest of tethyr. the leader has the hilt.

Its called the vorpal sword, and Cromwell can assemble it from the Blade Saemon Havareon gives you, and the hilt you get from the githyanki war party. I think it has a 10% chance of killing an opponent outright.
