Allright, hello again everyone.

I finally received my game in the mail yesterday and did a full install. Now, I'm ready to and start my adventures. I do have a minor technical problem that I would like to solve to make BG2 more enjoyable.

Is it normal for the interface to be sluggish? The screen jumps up/down/left and right and movement is slow and choppy. Any ideas how to fix this? I know, you want my spec:

PIII 833
512 Mg RAM
20 GIG HDD (12 gig free and 2 Gig Swap file)
TNT2 32Meg M64 Video
Sound Blaster sound card
Full install (300Mg cache)
52x CD-Rom
Win Me (which I hate BTW)
DirectX 8

Forgot to mention playing 800x600 32bit and 3D acceleration

Anything else is needed?

Also, I would like to ask a small clarification question. When you start the game, you can only create 1 character, right?

Have you installed the patch?

Yep, I'm patched

If your starting in single player you only have one char, if you play in multiplayer by yourself you can create your entire party by yourself. However its the interaction with the npcs thats the best part of the game.

Do not use 3D accelerator engine, maybe this would help.

OK, taking out 3D solved my problem. I'm still perplexed. I would have thought that my system could've easily handled 3D. Can you guys think of any other ways for me to enjoy a full 3D environment?

Also, is there a noticeable difference between normal and 3D modes?

Thanks.

It might be that your video card doesn't have enough grunt to handle the 3D. I have a Geforce2 MX 32 meg, and even than can slow up at times, especially when both my mages cast minor sequencers, loaded with 2 magic missile spells each, at the same time. The rest of your system sounds fine !!
