Doies anyone know why in my current game Jaiheras Charisma has dropped to 1 and dies evcery battle from Charisma Modification?!?!?

are you sure it's her Charisma and not her Constitution?

yup, it has never happened before, and i've played this game to the death. I had to use some charisma enhancing device (i forget which one) or she drops dead at the first sign of a fight ?!?! I've never read of this being a bug and have all the patches?

Is she using the Rod of Terror? This is a +3 staff that causes fear in enemies it hits, but also drains 1 point of charisma from the wielder. When the wielder's charisma drops to 0 then they die permanently! You find this rod in the secret crypt in the City Gates inn, with the lich, the same place that you find the Daystar sword - do you have Jaheira using it? If so this is certainly the reason. Get rid of the rod ASAP! (Sell it, it's quite valuable) I'm not sure if there's any way to remove the charisma loss, other than using Shadowkeeper. Perhaps a Heal or Greater Restoration spell would work.

drop it and give her the ring of charisma you get from the Circus quest...

I find it rather weird you can die from becoming, well, too "unlikable".

Thank God for shadow keeper! It takes care of irritating stuff like this. It prevents you from having to have more than two saved games per group. I've seen plenty of folks like this who fall prey to an item or dialogue that they didn't fully comprehend. It also let's you modify an old saved game and check out some stuff you might normally not be able to get. (ex. BMG, BMU) Please finish the game at least once without cheating first though.
