Shadowkeeper lets you edit characters and save games. You can open a previously saved game and edit everything from a character's name, stats, THACO,armour class and the amount of gold carried by the party to the spells thay can cast, how they look (not just the portrait but also the in-game figure), global variables, resistances, items and names. By typing the desired number, dragging down a slider bar or pressing an edit button, you can do almost anything to your party members.

You've got that right. It can be fun if you've played the game through ten times already and you're bored, or it may be useful if you are stuck. Otherwise, it just unbalances the game.
