Some questions to anyone who has Minsc in their party--

What weapon(s) do you use with him, and what skills have you found most worthy of investment? I've found the duel wield to work out well for him (Thus far anyway, I just started chapter 4). I gave him a Mauler's arm +2 (mace) and a Namarro +2 (L.sword). Are 2h swords and/or 2 weapon style investment worthy, more so than duel weapons? What are some of the best high-end weapons you'll find later on in the game? I don't want to screw up Minsc in the long run, cause he kicks ass. I can't imagine doing without his comedy relief in the party, since everyone else *cough*aerie*ahem* is always nagging and whining about totally irrelevant and pointless things.

I had him wield Lilarcor (talking sword +2) for like forever. Now he's wielding Psionic Blade +5. You could go to the Adventurers Mart and get a Warblade +4 if you need some heavy weaponary...

I have Minsc using Lilarcor right now...and i think it's a +3 sword actually....I am still in CH.2 right now though...so it's still early in the game for me.

Even if you arm Minsc with a toothpick, he's great. Add Jan for extra effect http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Armed him with the flail of ages. Will soon be dual wielding with Crom Faeyr.

It depends on your other melee fighters. My main character is a fighter and he's specializing in two-handed weapons and two-handed fighting style. If I was a dual-wielder well let Minsc go with 2-handed.

Also as an another melee fighter, I got Anomen he's specializing in hammer, because he is the most ideal person to wield Crom Faeyr. So I go dualwielding with Minsc. At level 9, he is mastered in dual wielding so he can use his off-hand with only a -2 penalty. At level 12, I made him proficient in Katana so he can use Celestial Fury -the second best sword in the game-, This weapon is a very funny and exciting weapon and it's much better than ANY longsword in game. You can use it as long as the final chapters. Dual wielding a cool mace and Cf. Cool. AT level 15, I'll make him specialist in katana and then he'll go on with bastard swords because as I heard there's really GREAT bastard swords in ToB

The matter of longswords is there's LOTS of longswords but only 2 of them are useful.

It's a matter of roleplay if you think Minsc looks better with wielding flail of age and maces, go with flail.

One more thing, If you want a SUPREME POWERFUL character dual-wielding Crom Faeyr and Flail Of Ages can be awesome. But the point of Crom Faeyr is, it's the most powerful item in the game and it ruins the balance of your men a little bit. Thats why I decided to give this item to Anomen to balance the game but you can hava awesome damages with this combo

When you level up a character, can you take away a proficiency? I have never tried doing so...

Zoltan 09-07-2001 06:58 PM
