i cant seem to be able to take my char from BG1 to BG2? do i have to beat the game first or is my game or saved game screwed up?

try exporting your char from bg1, then moving (copy) the file to your bg2 directory (forget which one, but the one w/ other chars ready for import)

this will work as it's what i did to continue the saga.

try copying a saved game from bg1 to the mpsave folder in bg2 then import from saved game.
