How do you put the "keys" (ring, blood, hand, staff) in the pipes? I have all the items, but can't figure out how to place them in the pipes. Every time I motion toward the pipe (holding all the items), I just get zapped.

you have to put the items in the right order. Talk to the man and he'll give you clues. IF you still can't figure it out, com eback here and ask for more spoilers. But really all you have to do is click on the correct tube.
