you probably want to save 1 rogue stone. also i think there is a use for diamond. A couple of others as well but i cannot remember for sure (maybe emerald?)

There is one you get (a blue one called a Berujil (sp?)) that you will want to keep, along with a diamond and a rogue stone. Sell all of the cheap stuff.

ToB spoiler (well, not really since it's mentioned in the ToB manual).

Note that some gems WILL be useful for upgrading items (weapons, armour, whatnot) in ToB. Examples iirc: diamonds, emaralds, king's tears, nypmh tears to name a few.

But in SoA you'll only need three gems: a rogue stone, a diamond and a beljuril. You can sell the rest.
