For Minsc players,

As you know Mins chooses a proficiency at level 9,12 and 15 etc It means we can increase his skills I think the best thing to do is to take axe at 9, specialize in axe 12, and third slot in dual wielding. So you can wield a mace+axe or double axe. Or u prefer longsword/flail instead of axe? What are the proficiencies you take at level 9,12 and 15?

*Minsc starts as specialized in two handed sword, mace, bow and dual wielding.

I definately prefer the sword over axe or flail with Minsc. You come accross many more powerful, magical swords than you ever do axes or flails.

However, not following the specializations already there could make for a more interesting character.

hrm can you put a third slot into dual wielding? I think rangers can only put 2 slots into their skill choices.

Yes, they can add a third slot.

Really? I just leveled up to 30? in TOB and was not allowed to put a third into longsword. Dual weapon may be the only one a ranger can triple slot it. Pretty sure it is. Yes just checked - third slot is good to go with Minsc, dual weapon that is.

Personally (I think it is possible) I'd put a slot into dual weapon, Katana, and flail. You'll have to wait to get the katana in question, but it is SO worth it...

But this REALLY depends on what other NPC's you have with you what weapons you have....

This is a great example of where I use shadowkeeper. Careful, shadowkeeper is addicting if not used carefully. I'll use it to change a char prof slots, try to only do this once though - if at all. Or, adapt your party whenever, I'd recommend either never using it, or VERY seldom. IMO

Yep. The only time I make use of Shadowkeeper is to either change my char's proficiencies, or if I lost a quest item. I feel it isn't cheating, because if I would have been able to set each npc's proficiencies, like the main character, then the result would be the same.

Floyd, that is the same logic I use for the prof slot/shadowkeeper.

Now if I can use logic on my wife to allow me to go golfing and to the casino this weekend...
