Phaera and Soluafein in the tavern said to meet them in 4 days at the platform. I keep checking there and after 9 days, still nothing. Meanwhile, I have done the quests in the tavern and finished up the beholder dungeon, checking back constantly.

Also I bought the Freedom Scroll to release the trapped mage, but cannot use it because my mage cannot read level 9 spells. Any suggestions?

What school is he? Put a potion in your inv., drink it, replace the potion with the freedom, resume game, freedom casted, so this is how you can cast find farmiliar with any class.

As far as Phaere and Solofain go, they should have definetely been there. If they said 4 days and it's been 9 days then you will most likely soon here an alarm sound in the city...your cover will be blown and you'll have to fight every drow in the city.

You might want to try reloading a previous save game if you have one.
