IF I dropped someone off and gained some levels, picked them up later, would they still be at the same level that I dropped them off as or would they go up in levels too?....input would be appreciated...thanx

No they wouldn't gain level unless they were actually in the party.

From what I've been able to understand, NPC's who leave your party or who you drop stand around and twiddle their thumbs, because they're at the same level you dropped them at when you pick them up again.

I still haven't worked this out yet. IE, you drop Imoen off at level 7 or so but pick her back up and she's 12 or so. (Must have been some fight with old Johnny boy.) Same thing it seems when picking people up for the first time, they are consumate with the PC level.
