Bought BG2 when it came out, played it through the first time without cheating as a solo fighter/mage/thief (manual said no single char could beat the game, I took it as a challenge)... well ok... didnt cheat but bug exploited a bit on the dragons.... anyways... just picked up the game again and have forgotten soooo much stuff, or things are going differently then I remember... playing with a party this time, and had a few questions:
1) Clay golems... I hate these things.. I have stabbed them, shot them, burned them, magically attacked them, attacked them with regular weapons, thrown small animals at them, and I just can't hurt 'em.. I remember killing them before, and I know that they are not invincible, but I can't for the life of me remember or figure out how to kill them: Clay Golem - Magic resistance Clay Golem - Magic resistance Clay Golem - Magic resistance (Minsc and my main shout "My weapon has no effect") Minsc - Death Aerie - Death Jahera - Death Clay Golem - Laughs LOADING... please wait 2) When I saved the de'Arnse (sp?) keep from the trolls.. I remember gaining posession of it and having to help out commoners, run it, etc.. this time through I am running through a bunch of "save nalia from the mean noblejerk" subquests with no ownership of the keep in sight? 3) The demon in the snirf town in the underdark (kill it, seal the hole)... see question number one (replace "Clay Golem" with "Naberfanishulaba (whatever the demons name)" Thats it for now... any help will be appreciated |
Follow up that I just remember'd:
This is more a game issue question BUT: Sometimes when I go to talk someone it says: "You cannot innitiate dialogue with whoever" Not "So and so is busy" Just "You get no love" Sometimes reloading the area solves the problem, but some npcs just wont talk regardless? |
1) You need +3 weapons to kill clay golems (also +2 blunt weapons but I've never found those to work for some reason). Anyway I like to buy the staff of rhynn from the adventurer's mart which always works. Also you can cast lower resistance on them and use magic missiles etc.
2) Are you playing a fighter? Each class has a different stronghold. If you're not a fighter (or barbarian or monk) then the keep isn't your stronghold so you won't get possession of it. 3) Again I think you need at least +3 weapons for this demon. I found the cleric spell free action useful because he stuns. Again lower resistance before you can cast mage spells on him, then cleric spells such as bolt of glory work very well on demons. Re dialogue issue - have you got ToB installed? There is a bug associated with that where you get the You cannot initiate dialogue message. If so you'll need a patch, which I'm sure someone knows where to find ;) |
Ahhhhh thanks, you are the best...
And no, I never bought ToB... Good investment? |
Indeed, very good investment. The saga finally ends, and you can reach quite high levels. The xp-cap (for SoA then, too) is raised to 8 Million.
|
With magic weapons (+3), too spells weapons.
|
hmmm.... U sure Aelia?? Ive neva been able to hit the Clay bastards with nething but +1 blunt or more..... weird.... neway I just thought Id tell u that the demons name is Balor
|
You only need +1 enchanted or better blunt weapons to hit Clay Golems.
|
By far the easiest to get, good blunt weapon which will help you through the game at first is the Staff of Rhynn +4. You can buy it from Adventurer's Mart, for some 18000+ gold at first I think. Buy it and carry in the pack for these nasty moments. Get better REP, the price will drop as well :D
|
Hmm cant you buy the Rod of Smiting in Ust´Natha in Underdark that will kill the Golems in just one hit?
