My kensai PC just reached level 12. I also just completed Aran Linvail's last quest in Chapter 3, clearing out the vamp nest and fighting Bodhi. There are still a TON of unfinished quests... I have yet to go to Trademeet, Umar Hills or Windspear Hills. I have yet to start on the Planar Sphere quest and tackle the Guarded Compound in the Temple District. I have yet to rescue Haer'Darlis for the theatre people... and so on.
My question is am I strong enough to proceed to Chapter 4, and save these quests for Chapter 6 to buff Imoen up? My party consists of Minsc, Jaheira, Keldorn, Aerie and Jan. Can't quite remember what levels they are, but probably about 10 or 11.
Any advise?

I went to Brynnlaw at level 10 or 11 and came out around level 14. I did all the trademeet quests and one or two of the Umar hills mini-quests(Haven't dealt with the Shadow Dragon or the Shadelord yet). You should be fine, but its up to you.

Imoen doesn't really need that much buffing up. Well, I say this because I have a few good spellcasters already in my party, but still she's pretty decent strat off the cuff.

The only thing I didn't do before going to the Asylum was the planar sphere, or the shadow dragon (the rest of the dungeon is complete but I'll go back to try the dragon).

I recommend going to trademeet and at least doing those - not too difficult quests - Djinnis and Druid quests. and maybe even Windspear hills... you should get better equipment and some cash to buy better things before you move on
