this is at the druid grove.
she's lvl 10/12 and can't beat that shadow druid leader. she beat her with no problems in previous 3 run thrus, but this time it's miserable.

first off, it takes her approx 4 attempts to pick up that stoopid staff. i always thot that was lame. shadow girl comes equipped with it, but not me. nooooo. this allows badgirl to cast several spells while i try to remember basic motor control and pick that thing up.
then i noticed something else odd. if i cast insect plague on shadelady, it does constant 1 pt dmg, but she still gets spells off. if i get the insect plague cast on me, i have the constant dmg and i can't cast because i cant concentrate.

any tips on this? i don't know why it's playing out this way.

Are you casting insect plague or summon insects? Summon insects only has a 50% spell fail rate.

Also, make sure Jaheira has cast some defensive spells on herself beforehand, and let a mage cast some protection on her. Then, when she is transported to the pit she at least has her protections on (use Iron Skins for example)
And I think Memnoch is right and you are using Summon Insects. Insect Plague is 5th level, Summon Insects 3rd level.

BTW what do you need the "stoopid staff" for anyway? If it takes you that long to pick it up, why don't you use that time casting a good offensive spell? Then you could always pick it up later when Faldorn is busy with dealing with your spell. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Last time through, I just turned Jaheira into a bear and mauled the druid leader..

I summoned a Fire Elemental AND 2 Mountain Bears,

The resulting carnage was gut-splitting funny. Oh, and if time permits, cast Insect Plague as well.

The call woodland being spell is also useful here. Cast it and let the woodland being cast hold person on Faldorn (seems to always work, i haven't seen her save vs spell once) while Jaheira is summoning up elementals/animals. To top it cast something like flameblade (or somesuch spell). Really easy to beat a held druid that way.
