I have fought Firkraag countless times and the best time to go against
him is at least level 14, 15 is better. This is just if you want to make
life easy for you. If not, then I'd suggest you do two things to make the
battle VERY simple. First off try and get your hands on either some cloudkill
wands or a lot of the spells. Secondly make sure you have characters who can summon a lot of monsters. And grab a spell of haste so you can run if things turn sour. When you go up to Firkraag stay back just far enough so you can't see him. Fire your cloudkills and run away. Its wimpy I know but standing back you watch his hit points sink. Do this at least two or three times, your choice. Summon all the monsters you can, speed everyone up with haste spell and charge blindly into battle. Just an idea, Good luck!

(As for shadow dragon, your guess is as good as mine. I got beat up at level 16 like I was a gnat. Could never hurt him.)

You can use the silver dragons blood to make a special armor.
This is related to the tanner quest in the bridge district.
As for killing dragons, be sure to cast magic resistance on them(lvl5 priest spell i think) this practicly removes there MR.

In his house youŽll find a letter, read it and head for the Umar Hills.
Save the game first.
There, buy history of the Zentharim from a book merchant whoŽll tell you to retrieve the dragons blood so he can make you the armor.
You have to be evil to wear it.

Not sure about the armour, since I've not played an evil party yet. The silver dragon is (small spoiler)

This is how I killed Firkraag:
- Summon as many monsters for cannon fodder as is possible
- Use the whole floor, also behind Firkraag
- Cast breach and pierce magic to lower the resistance to magic. (I use these
spells frequently against tougher dudes)
- Start casting attack spells with mage

I have a cool archer in my party who has the Heartseeker +3 bow. She made the final kill. This strategy probably does not work every time... For me it took an hour so maybe I was a little lucky as well.

I finally defeated Firkragg yesterday after about 15 trys.
I mean I defeated him without killing any NPC permanently.
I used Breach and miscast magic a lot, but the biggest revelation
was not using my Tanks as Tanks but as archers. I had Imoen summoning
monsters galore and Imoens "duplicate" would use magic missiles.
Firkragg only attacked my party once and the archers (3) just kept
picking away at him. Imoen was killed but I was able to
bring her back in the heat of battle. The archers really turned the tide.
Every time I tried the Tank tactic I got slaughtered. It was an awesome battle !
