Is it just a coincidence that the character that always gets held or paraylized or charmed just happens to be my cleric, who just happens to be the only one with cure paralization and dispel magic???

Also is it just a coincidence that no matter what order I have my party in when loading in a new section that has big bosses and hard to kill mages that my magic users and weaker characters 80% of the time get pushed to the front in harms way.

Try different formations, pick up Keldorn to dispel things hes good at that.

Can I use a normal dispel to dispel charm, stun, hold, dire charm or what?

Read the dispel discription and Keldorn dispels at twice his level after the spell description it should be easy for you know.

I play by myself in multiplayer, and I find it irritating that the log on formation is the default formation when entering a new area, regardless of the party order I have set. My example is that Aerie is second when I start multiplayer, and although last in formation, she is second when I first enter a new area. This can be rough in a tight room. Does anyone know how to change the order, since I cannot export and reimport NPCs?

No, Zateel there is no way to change it, its really annoying!

Zateel,Take the save file from your MPsave and put it in the normal save folder. then you can use the save like an ordanary save file of a single player game. this means that anoying thing should stop happening.
