The first time i played BG2 i used a plain old fighter, expecting a game like BG1. Imagine my surprise when i found that missile weapons were no longer used!!

Despite these problems i went through the game in short order. However the second time i played(and used an ass whoopin Sorcerer who is the best character ever!!)i found that after rescuing the D'arnies castle for Nadia i was unable to keep it!!!!! I enjoyed owning my own castle so why did she not give it to me?
Do you have to be a fighter class?

Only Fighters/kits, barbarians and monks get D'Arnise keep. Your Sorerer will get another stronghold, you'll see.

Yes, there is a different Keep for different classes. The mage and sorceror's keep is the Planar Sphere.

What, exactly do you mean by "missile weapons were no longer used" ? If you played a plain fighter, you should be able to use ranged weapons...

True, but when I hear the words "plain old fighter" I get the impression that the fighter doesn't have a kit, but is a plain fighter, just like in the 'old' Baldurs Gate. Am I right here?

The best stronghold is the ranger cabin
