after reading another post i finally discovered the use of the mithral tokens. however, i cannot recall anything resembling a "boot-making machine". where is?

the paintings of the mind flayer, umber hulk, etc. use?

the crystal from the kobold lair. an exit item?

The paintings open various doors in the north western corner of the second maze map. The crystal is required to open the giant head door, and the mithral machine is past one of the painting-doors. (btw, if you get enough tokens, you get an option for a non-footwear item)

i think it was umber hulk painting. anyway, its the right-middle one. follow the hallway turn right, then right again, then head straight forward till you hit it.
