Well i simply have NO idea where i got an exotic hide from??? i just checked my inventory to sort stuff and there it was...can anyone please tell me where i got it and what its used for?

If it's what I think it is, you got it in the bridge district while solving the murders there. Go talk to the merchant near the prostitute. he'll tell you something about it, and mention the tanner.
