For some reason Derin (the guy who gives you the quest) is not at the city gates. Does anyone know why he would not be there?

OK, first: The kid's name is Delon. And I found him in the Government District. Also, you need a Ranger in your group for him to approach you, either your PC, or Minsc or Valygar.

Well, if you have Valygar, the point's kinda moot, isn't it? LoL.

if you dont have a ranger, you can approach him and it works just as well.

I had Delon approach me in one of the ambush maps, which really took me by surprise, as I was trying to stay out of the Gov. District, because I wasn't ready to lose the paladin to his family yet. But I guess it really doesn't matter, when it's time, it's time.
