I'm suspicious, when you do the tanner mission you get attacked by rune assasins.
When I use the Rouge Stone in the Bridge, I got teleported to a place to do with rune.
And when you rescue cerend's child in the goverment district. The man who has him is been interviewed by a strange skeleton thing, to be come a member

Are these related. Is the Rune a secrete organisation. Any info welcome

I don't have all of the info., by any means...but:

The Twisted Rune is some sort of secret organization that is run by high-powered wizards (I think...) in the Forgotten Realms setting. I believe that they are sort of peers of the Zhentarim and/or the Cult of the Dragon...perhaps not...
