I want to make a party of 6 created characters, and my only thief will be a dualled Fighter/Thief. Dualing at level 9 gets me some extra bouses, but i would be without a thief for a while. When do I NEED thief skills in the early game? Could I wait till 9 or would I have to do it at start?

Should it be a Fighter/Thief or Kensai/Theif. Kensai wouldnt have armor, but he would get kai and other bouses. I think I want my thief to dual wield long swords.

Hi George, Im no expert but Im pretty sure that your theiving skills come in really handy quite early on in the game and Im sure you couldn't wait

Don't worry about it. Dual at 7 or 9 and you will not be w/out a thief for long. Use Imoen in Irenicus' dungeon, as she has all the rouge skills you will need for then. You will lvl up pretty quick.

I cant use Imoen, i will have a full party from the start.

Hmm... Get a priest to cast find traps, have the toughest guy walk through one at a time. You won't need anything else. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

I say lvl 9 or 12, to take full advantage of HP and weapon proficiency slots.

I'd go the opposite direction, dual a thief to a fighter. Go with a Swashbuckler/Fighter, or if you want a backstabber go with an Assasin/Fighter.

I'm currently playing a 9th level Berserker dualled to Thief. He kicks some serious butt. I grand mastered him in longsword before he dualled. The only drawback is that Berserkers can't specialize in missile weapons. If I had to do it again, I'd probably start with a fighter and give him GM in shortbows before dualling. However, with the Berserker, I can go berserk and it makes me immune to almost everything while I'm berserk. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Thanks.
But should I be a Kensai/thief or a fighter thief? I want to dual wield long swords.

It really just depends on what you prefer...

If you choose Kensai, you won't be able to wear any armor or bracers or defense...no helmets (I think)...and no shields (don't think Kensai can use shields, but not certain).

Personally, I'd go with the fighter b/c I like to have a good armor class when I dual to thief, but it's your call. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif
