A few questions about duel class characters...

Example: I start as a fighter at level 7. I then duel class to a mage. I raise my mage to the level of 8. Now.....

Who's armor restrictions do I use?

Who's weapon restrictions do I use?

Who's weapon skill points do I use?

Thanks to all... The passage of knowledge is an honorable endevor indeed....

You use the abilities/stats of the better of the two classes. For example you will have the Fighter's THACO but the Mage's saving throws (etc...). http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

BTW, I didn't notice before that you're new. So I'ld just like to say welcome http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/xyxwave.gif and that you should go over to the General Discussions board and introduce yourself. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

1) None (after dual class completed), no armor restriction, EXCEPT if you want to cast spell, you will either have to be NO armor, or wear mage robe or elven chain. But when your mage level is below (or equal) fighter you can only wear mage robes as armor like a normal mage.

2) None (once dual is completed), you can use ANY weapon like a fighter. EXCEPT if the mage level is below/equal the fighter, then you fight like a mage.

3) Initially you will lose the weapon points of a fighter, but you will gain them back as soon as your mage is 1 level greater than the fighter level. While your mage level is still below or equal the fighter level, you will be restricted to mage weapon choices for proficiencies slots and can only have 1 spot for weapon like staff, sling, and dagger.

The down side of dual-classing is that until the character surpasses the level of his old class, he's as weak as a kitten. Further he is restricted to the weapons/armour etc of his new class. So a kensai dualled to a mage, for example, is of not much help until he gains sufficient experience.
Any ideas how to overcome this problem?

Stay back during fights and do what a mage does (sling and cast spells).
