Though I would try another post. I posted a comment on shapshifting and got a whole bunch of useful information.

Well my question is about setting snares. I decided to pick up Jan Jansen and he is quickly becoming my favourites. Actually Mazzy is but, Jan is a close second. He has leveled up a few times on his thief side and I have put all the points in setting traps. I was thinking about Hide in Shadows but to date Invisibility has been doing the trick. Well anyways I was wondering if anyone could give me some helpful tips on setting traps. Anyone who could answer the following questions fell free to write:

What types of people do Snares effect, don't?
Will I ever get anything other then Snares? Something better?
What exactly does a Snare do? Does it just slow people down?
Does my set snare ability have any effect on how effective the trap is, or does it just relate to whether the trap is successful?

Thanks in advance,
Newman

You can't put points in setting traps.. only in finding traps.
Traps effect everyone AFAIK.
Nope snares will always be snares. Bounty hunters get special snares...

Normal snares just do about 10-20 damage, no slowing down
Setting traps ability just shows how likely u are to set a snare successfully

AFAIK, snares affect everyone. Jan won't ever get anything other than snares, but he will get more of them. Only bounty hunters (like Yoshimo) get "better" snares. They actually do damage. To my knowledge, the percentage only affects your chance of success, and the chance of geting hurt on failing. I may be wrong on this last point.

Actually, you can put points into setting traps, when your thief levels up, go to the ability bar and scroll downwards.

Is there any point in setting the limit above 100%?

I've had a thief once who had 200% into lock picks and it made NO DIFFERENCE!http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...s/confused.gif

Honestly, anything that is >100 points is very good in the game already, personally I could not see any real differences once the number go above 100. But I do like to beef up on hide in shadow and move silently.

Of course not, every lock has a "picking difficulty". If your skill is above this you will open it... most locks have between 80 and 150 IIRC... so 200 will open everything... i think http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

About the only skill I've come across that you want at well over 100% is pick pockets.
