Some moron I know has accidentially scratched my Baldurs Gate 2 CD 2, this has wrecked some of the AREA files, but the rest of the CD seems to work just fine, if someone could email me the AREA files I would be grateful, I could then copy the rest of the CD to my harddisk and edit the Baldur.ini to read it from there, if anyone wants to email me these files my email adress is: Pschaldemose@post.tele.dk
If you send me SPAM mail I will flood you with SPAM, so don't do it. I have a fast connection, so if someone wants to mail me the WHOLE CD2, I won't mind, in fact I would like that more than just the AREA files. I would be eternally grateful for any help. |
Just bumping it to the top in the hope that someone will notice it and help me.

Wow, I hadn't expected it to be THAT big!
Oh well, if you can't send it don't try, I'll probably survive without it. |
I would suggest trying to get a successful readof from the disc (with a cdwriter they can mostly read damaged CD's) and then burn it, or just make a copy of the cd from a friend (the 2nd CD is not protected in any way so it's just making a copy, that simple is it ..)

Neb,
go to a computer store and see if they have a "CD repair kit". There are some solutions out there that will remove scratches and not harm the data. Tell them what happened and they'll probably be able to set you up with something. Hope it works! That sucks. I was going to offer to put the files on my domain and let you download from there, until I read Melusine's post about them being 500 MB...whoa! I can only put 100MB on mine. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif Try the CD repair if possible. I know there's some out there. http://www.wizardrealm.com/images/saz1.gif Wizards & Warriors Veteran Baldur's Gate Newbie |
The place I bought my game has a free scratch removal system, that you can actually purchase for home use. It is like a buffer, and gets out scratches, guaranteed. I am a witness to it working. Is there something like that available to you? If not, you can send in your CD to the manufacturer, with like $5.00, and they say that they will replace it, or something. The details are in the manual.
These are just some ideas I am throwing out at ya. ------------------ http://www.dewa.com/animated/7.gif Larry, a Loyal Guardian of the OHF |
Thanks guys for helping Neb out....the zipped files are still about 300 Mb so I guess you'll have to try Larry's or Sazerac's or Boran_blok's suggestions.
Good luck! ------------------ Melusine, Archbabe of the Order of the Holy Flame and the Laughing Hyenas, & Official Entertainer Elf of the BG2 Bar http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/memnoch/mel1.gif Your voice is ambrosia |
